downtime

This weekend fireside chess will be experiencing some downtime because we are updating the server, the website will however not have updates, updates are, however, coming, I promise.  Some moves made today and through out the weekend have a good chance of not being saved during the update, sorry.

the site I’m working on is almost ready for teh internetz, once it’s all done I focus my attention back to fireside for a while until I come up with a new site to make, and then back to fireside

many of you have probably noticed that I’m not on fireside that much anymore, the reason is because I’m at work developing a new site which is classified for now… (oh, and has nothing to do with chess, sorry)

Contest!!!!

We are starting a contest where you email me (firesidechess@gmail.com) with your best games (in PGN format) then I go through all of them and pick a winner!  The winner will then receive a very special picture in their profile along with a surprise which I haven’t quite figured out yet, but trust me, it will be awesome!!! Following criteria:

•  game MUST HAVE FINISHED
• You must have participated in the game
• You must have won the game
• You must have finished at least 7 games 

These are the following things your email MUST include:

•  your Fireside Chess username
• your current rating
• a link to the game both in the regular (chessboard) format and PGN format
• a description on why you think this game is awesome

Failure to have any of the criteria above will result in a reply saying you must submit again with all the criteria met. The contest will end at or around April 14th. Giving you plenty of time!you can also submit multiple  games, but ONE GAME PER EMAIL SENT TO ME!!! -Matt S.

we have a new email address.  it is firesidechess@gmail.com.  if you need to email me, please use the new address, however when you receive email notifications it will still be from computermatt@nycap.rr.com.  I might change it later, but not now

we fixed the grammatical error where it said “informations” instead of “information” so I just fixed it.  The remember me button had experienced some errors, but it’s fixed, so now it should function properly.  For an inside information on what we are working on, email me!

We have a remember me button!!!!!!  be sure you check the box and you will be automatically logged in, for one month!

More updates

these updates weren’t listed in the what we’re working on section, but it was important to me.  when I first made this site, the PGN format used P for pawn instead of just writing the square it went to.  So I fixed that a while ago, but I never removed mentions of it from the help page, so I just did.  Again not a major update, but I thought I should note it.  Our current project is getting a remember me button.  We have began developing one, but it’s kinda slow going, so expect it hopefully within the next month.  For now if you don’t want to continually log in go into your browsers preferences and select the autofill tab if it’s there, and select the usernames and passwords or something similar to that.  That would automatically fill in your username and password, so you won’t have to type it in all the time, however you will still need to click the login button.

Updates

in case you haven’t noticed we have updated the site!  You can now have pictures (up to 80kb) in your profile!!! We have also fixed the email notification.  Now if it’s your move in a game it will automatically email you!!!!
